Matt Cutts, Google’s head of search spam, announced today that he is going to take some time off for a few months. It will be the longest break Cutts has ever taken from Google (almost fifteen years later). He said, he is doing it because he want to spend valuable time with his wife:

When I joined Google, my wife and I agreed that I would work for 4-5 years, and then she’d get to see more of me… And now, almost fifteen years later I’d like to be there for my wife more. I know she’d like me to be around more too, and not just physically present while my mind is still on work.

It’s not confirm yet Who will be the next poster-boy at Google
taking over his responsibilities while he’s gone. Cutts did advise those looking for the type of advice he’s known for offering from Google to make use of these resources:

  • Webmaster forums
  • SEO beginner’s guide
  • Google Webmaster Central Account
  • Google webmasters on google plus
  • Google Inside Search blog
